Opera by Children

Wednesday, Gary and I traveled to Utah to watch Kaylee in her 1st grade Opera. The first graders wrote and produced their own Operas; there were three in all. Kaylee's class wrote the Opera: The Stolen Golden Gargoyles. They wrote the script, the songs, designed the sets and costumes then performed. The words to the music were cute and the costumes and backdrops were darling. They all did so well.

We weren't allowd to take pictures of the performances but we snapped some photos out on the lawn afterwards.

From left to right with Mom in the back, Lizzy, Brooklyn and my Diva, Kaylee.

Three ladies in waiting.
I am so proud of all of them!

First grade opera? I am so happy to hear that children are being taught to love music at an early age. Thank goodness for the artsy teachers of the world.

Now that is the best way to learn! They should be pleased with all they've accomplished with the opera.

The flashes and people standing up to take pictures can be distracting during the opera. - They could have arranged to let people take photos of the kids lined up on stage after the performance.

Wow, Jo, that must have been amazing! Such an ambitious undertaking for the kids, one they'll always remember.
